Winking values compassion and kindness in life. We encourage our staff to go out into the community and be part of something greater. Winking also participated in several awareness movements in many parts of the world, includes Beijing, Florida, Taipei, and more. We work closely with an orphanage in Changchun, China to support children with school supplies and warm clothes. We also collaborate with local elderly care to bring them commodities.
I had the honor of volunteer at a local daycare center for two years. It was great to give back to the community. Getting to see all the children every week was rewarding. What I love the most was seeing their smile after a long day of work. They would come up to me and ask me about the many adventures that I took on during work. I always entertained them with my stories. I am glad to be part of their lives.
I have volunteered for migrant school project for half a year when I lived in Beijing. We visited the school 1~2 days per week. Our main job was to parent these students and to teach basic English conversation and Mathematics. This volunteer work has taught me the importance of universal education and caring. More children should go to school and have better education no matter what social class their parents are.
Eating reunion dinner with family on New Year’s Eve is a very important custom. However, it’s hard for some elderly people living alone to have a reunion dinner. I joined "Deliver New Year Dishes and Keep The Elderly Company” program. I realized that a simple care and the dishes really brightened up their New Year’s Eve while seeing the smile on their faces.
A couple of years ago, a little boy in Changchun, China, went alone to the county center to declare the gone of his parents. He also applied for an orphanage school by himself. After seeing this article, I was deeply touched by the bravery of this boy. I, then, after many failures, successfully contacted the exact orphanage and asked to be a continuous sponsor for the children at the school. Soon later, I learned that the contribution I made allowed the kids to have a proper sports supply. Konwing that my action could be a help to many kids in similar circumstancts made me feel nothing but joyful and courageous.
It was a great honor to have the opportunity to serve in the local children's shelter as a volunteer with my colleugues. I helped clean up the living space and dispatch the donated equipment and supplies for the children and young people. After experiencing in-person interaction with the children, I deeply understand that a steady growth enviroment and a comprehesive approach to early childhood education are both important for every stage in child development. I was pleased to be part of the effort to give the support to these children.
